A well defined security framework in the North East Zone has turned out to be unobtainable and it is strenuous to vitally investigate how budgetary allocations to the security sector aligns with an adequate security plan in the North East Zone. This study employed a qualitative method and anchored its analysis on the decision making and relative deprivation theories. The findings of this study indicate that the government within period under review (2014-2018), made budgetary plans on security. In spite of the investments, the North East Zone still grapples with security threats. It is therefore premised on these findings that the North East Development Commission (NEDC), being a major institution in fostering a sustainable solution to the challenge of insecurity and addressing the root cause of insurgency in the North East Zone has the prospect in containing the security deficiency in the Zone. This study further recommends measures toward the attainment of an adequate security plan in the North East Zone.
